Hale, also known as Karen Lucy Hale, was born on 14th June, 1989 in Memphis (Tennessee, USA). She is the youngest of three children; her siblings are Maggie and Wes, a step-brother.
Her first public appearance was on American Juniors in 2003, after which her focus moved to acting, which she claims had been "a passion" of hers for a while. She appeared in in guest roles on shows such as Drake & Josh, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, The O.C., and How I Met Your Mother. She also acted in an ABC pilot for the show Secrets of a Small Town in 2006, a FOX pilot called The Apostles, and a CBS pilot Amercan Family.
Recently, she bagged a lead role in Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants 2, playing the role of Effie, Lena's little sister. She will also appear in a few episodes of the new Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place, starring David Henrie and Selena Gomez.
